The Caravan
A series of paintings
Throughout time, caravans have formed to journey together, where traveling in larger groups would offer mutual protection in hostile environments (whether that be in terms of enemy hostility or merciless natural conditions). They’re the perfect metaphor for how we humans – and all other living things – depend on each other to survive and thrive.
The Caravan is a tribute to the strength in numbers but even more so to the strength in diversity. Meeting the unknown and different perspectives with kindness, curiosity and openness is a prerequisite for relational synergy and those truly rewarding encounters that enrich and elevate our existence.
With a southeast facing gaze, The Caravan seek to offer companionship, comfort and connection during trying times and heartbreak.
Heading towards freedom and happiness, the abstract travellers of The Caravan embrace, carry and follow each other through sandstorms, relentless heatwaves, cold nights, bright days, serene pastel mornings and burning sunsets.
The Caravan emerged from the Gazan desert dust and from my own despair, longing and hopes for the future. The animated shapes portray my inner desire for belonging and reciprocity. It’s a curious and open-hearted exploration of the unfamiliar – in myself, in my heritage and in other people.
The Caravan embarks on its journey this fall. Stay tuned to join us.
